Fast and Easy Answer To Our Most Commonly Asked Questions

My Password Isn't Working

If you forgot your username or password or the bulletin board will not allow your access please follow the instructions below:

First go to "Retrieve Password."

Enter your email address in the form.  Please note that this must be the same email address that you registered with.  Click the "Submit" button.

After you click the "Submit" button, the board will send you a new temporary password via email. Meanwhile, in your web browser you will get a screen asking for your temporary password.

Go check your email for the temporary password.  Make sure you don't close your browser window when you are checking your email for the temporary password.

Get your temporary password from your email box, then copy and paste it into the temporary password box in the Ft-Talk window.

After you have pasted the temporary password in the window, then you can choose your own password.  Please choose a memorable password, then type it in twice to confirm the accuracy of the password.  Please write your new password down in a safe place.

Now you should be able to log in to www.ft-talk.com/forums.

I Have To Repeatedly Enter My Password

If if the board repeatedly asks for your password, please follow the instructions below:

You are having this problem because your user name and password are not being set on your machine with a "cookie".

Your user name and password are stored on the FT-Talk.com web site. When you visit the web site for the first time, the FT-Talk.com site asks your web browser if it can store a very small file on your computer called a "cookie".

That cookie contains your user name and password. That way every time you access the FT-Talk.com web site, the web site can check your computer for that cookie to see if you are a registered user. If it finds the cookie, then it will let you into the site. If it doesn't find the cookie, then it will ask you for your user name and password.

That is the ONLY thing that the cookies are used for on FT-Talk.com.

Unfortunately, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 comes with a default setting so it will not accept cookies, and that setting causes all kinds of problems. HOWEVER, this is very easy to correct.

There are *TWO* settings that have to be corrected for the cookies to work.

The first is your setting on this board needs to be changed to set a cookie on your computer. To check this:

1. Go to http//www.ft-talk.com/forums
2. Click on "Edit Profile" in the left side menu.
3. Enter your User Name and Password and click "Log In".
4. Go to the Preferences section and make sure there is a
check mark next to "Remember my user name and password in a cookie".
5. Make sure there is *NOT* a check mark next to "Clear the
cookie when I exit my browser".
6. Scroll down to the bottom of the "Preferences" section
and click "Save this Information".
7. That's it, your settings are now correct for this
bulletin board.

If that didn't solve your problem, then it is an issue with your browser's cookie setting. If you have IE 6.0, here are the instructions for fixing this:

In MS Internet Explorer 6 go to

1. 'Tools'
2. 'Internet Options'
3. 'Privacy' Tab
4. 'Advanced' and check 'Overide automatic cookie handling',
'Accept' and 'Accept' and 'OK' (you can change it later but this should accept all cookies. I have mine set to 'Prompt' and 'Prompt' which allows you to select which cookies you will allow on your computer.)
5. In the Web Sites area click 'Edit'
6. In the 'Managed Web sites' area make sure FT-Talk.com is
not marked 'Always Block'. Delete if it is.

This should solve your problem.
